To build future-ready individuals, the author highlights three key approaches: experiential learning (learning by doing), interdisciplinary thinking (blending multiple fields), and mentorship (collaborative, humility-driven guidance). Ultimately, the piece emphasizes that success in the future will depend not on what we know, but on how well we adapt, rethink, and keep learning.

For generations, education systems around the world have quietly promoted a single definition of success. Work hard, earn good grades, attend university, and follow a fixed and linear career path. While this route has opened doors for many students, it has also created a narrow narrative. One that unintentionally sidelines learners whose strengths lie in applied skills, hands-on problem solving, or technical expertise. At the same time, according to the World Manufacturing Foundation, 74% of companies report an acute shortage of skilled workers. Ironically, youth unemployment remains high in many regions, even as jobs go unfilled. This disconnect raises an important question.What if success was never meant to follow just one path? Vocational education offers an interesting alternate direction, not as a backup plan, but as a purposeful, respected, and future-ready pathway into meaningful work.
