The 10th Annual IC3 Conference & Expo marked a decade of building a global community around career and college counseling, student well-being, and purposeful education. Held in Mumbai, the conference brought together 1,922 participants from 48 countries, including educators, counselors, university representatives, and organizations. Under the theme “Looking Deeply - From Information to Insight,” conversations explored how education can move beyond information toward greater clarity, purpose, and student support. The milestone also celebrated the collective efforts of educators, volunteers, schools, universities, and partners who have shaped the IC3 Movement over the past decade. As the Movement enters its next chapter, initiatives such as the IC3 Regional Camp - South Asia in 2027 will create new spaces for deeper learning, collaboration, and connection.

Telling young people to "just be confident" fails because confidence is not a loud performance or an academic subject that can be directly taught. True self-belief develops through lived experience, as students gather personal evidence that uncertainty, mistakes, and fear are survivable. Schools cannot hand out confidence, but they can deliberately create repeated, meaningful opportunities for students to speak, lead, and participate. These experiences must take place in an emotionally safe environment where making mistakes does not carry the threat of judgment or humiliation. Genuine confidence manifests differently for everyone, meaning quiet competence and individual talents are just as valid as loud public speaking. Ultimately, confidence is not a curriculum topic waiting to be taught, but a natural byproduct of having safe spaces to try.

Students are battling intense, sustained pressure, sleep deprivation, and loneliness driven by relentless academic demands and toxic social media comparison. This chronic stress is not merely a personal issue but a structural problem that directly impairs cognitive function, memory, and academic performance. Despite these ongoing challenges, recent surveys show a hopeful decline in severe student depression, largely credited to better institutional support and counseling. Wellbeing can be improved through practical habits like prioritizing sleep, establishing screen-time boundaries, staying physically active, and seeking professional help. True student wellbeing requires a united effort from parents, teachers, and educational systems to prioritize mental health as the essential foundation of all learning.

In "The Hidden Curriculum," Viha Jain explores how vital life skills—like navigating uncertainty and building relationships—occur quietly in the spaces between formal classes. While schools prioritize measurable grades, everyday experiences like group projects and sending intimidating emails actually teach resilience, empathy, and courage. These intangible lessons are rarely recognized in the moment and are often mistakenly assumed to be innate personality traits rather than learned behaviors. Ultimately, this hidden curriculum goes beyond teaching academic knowledge to subtly and profoundly shape the kind of person you are becoming.

A recent report by the IC3 Institute reveals a sharp decline in student wellbeing, happiness, and confidence from grade 8 to grade 12. This deterioration in mental health peaks during the senior years, driven by the intense pressures of board exams and college admissions. Despite struggling with rising anxiety, a vast majority of students prefer to handle stress alone or with friends rather than seeking help from school counselors. Career uncertainty serves as another major stressor, exacerbated by a widespread lack of structured career guidance in schools. Consequently, academic burdens and overthinking have led to severe sleep deprivation, with most students sleeping six hours or less a night. The findings also highlight a troubling gender disparity, showing that female students experience significantly higher anxiety and lower confidence than boys.

"As students move through senior school, we see wellbeing, confidence and positive emotions decline, even as academic and career decisions become increasingly consequential. At the same time, many students continue to carry their concerns on their own," highlighted Ganesh Kohli, Founder - IC3 Movement. He noted that schools, families, counsellors, universities and the wider education community all have a role to play in creating environments where students can seek guidance early.

While national-level assessments provide a transparent, shared benchmark for students, the true measure of a successful education system lies in equitable support. Ganesh Kohli, founder The IC3 Movement, states that the debate between centralized and localized exams is secondary. The real focus, he states, must be on ensuring that every student, regardless of their background or school, has access to the adequate guidance and counselling required to successfully navigate their educational journey.

As artificial intelligence and globalization expand educational choices, students face unprecedented complexity in navigating their academic and career pathways. To support them effectively, high schools and universities must move beyond transactional admissions and build genuine, ongoing partnerships. Since 2016, the IC3 Movement has been creating the infrastructure for this collaboration, not through a single program or event, but through a sustained, decade-long effort to bring schools and universities into genuine dialogue. Today, that effort spans over 6,615 schools and 912 universities across 104 countries. Through its regional forums, professional development programs, research publications, and its flagship annual conference, IC3 has built one of the most active school–university communities in global education.
