For generations, education systems around the world have quietly promoted a single definition of success. Work hard, earn good grades, attend university, and follow a fixed and linear career path. While this route has opened doors for many students, it has also created a narrow narrative. One that unintentionally sidelines learners whose strengths lie in applied skills, hands-on problem solving, or technical expertise. At the same time, according to the World Manufacturing Foundation, 74% of companies report an acute shortage of skilled workers. Ironically, youth unemployment remains high in many regions, even as jobs go unfilled. This disconnect raises an important question.What if success was never meant to follow just one path? Vocational education offers an interesting alternate direction, not as a backup plan, but as a purposeful, respected, and future-ready pathway into meaningful work.

Ganesh Kohli, founder The IC3 Movement, states that the debate between centralized and localized exams is secondary. The real focus, he states, must be on ensuring that every student, regardless of their background or school, has access to the adequate guidance and counselling required to successfully navigate their educational journey.

As artificial intelligence and globalization expand educational choices, students face unprecedented complexity in navigating their academic and career pathways. To support them effectively, high schools and universities must move beyond transactional admissions and build genuine, ongoing partnerships. Since 2016, the IC3 Movement has been creating the infrastructure for this collaboration, not through a single program or event, but through a sustained, decade-long effort to bring schools and universities into genuine dialogue. Today, that effort spans over 6,615 schools and 912 universities across 104 countries. Ritika Singh, Executive Director of the IC3 Movement, highlights that foreign university branch campuses in India maintain the same academic standards and quality benchmarks as their parent institutions. She notes that students graduating from these Indian campuses will receive degrees equivalent to those from the university's home location, with fully aligned curricula and assessment frameworks.

In January 2026, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) took a landmark step by making school counselling mandatory across all affiliated schools. "For the first time, we have a policy that unequivocally positions counselling as an integral part of school education, not an add-on," says Ganesh Kohli, founder of the IC3 Movement, which has spent a decade building a global platform for school counselling professionals.
